Just a refresh: a "first 48" session is different to a regular newborn portraiture session. First 48 sessions are conducted in the hospital in those first, delicate hours after birth. They are intimate, usually just the baby and the parents. The little babies are not posed, wrapped or put on a prop. The sessions are focused on the newness, that overwhelming love and capturing all of it. They are what they are.
Because of that, they are very special and unique sessions. Olivia's was conducted at the Intercontinental Hotel here in Adelaide after she was transferred from Burnside Hospital due to overcrowding. Go ahead and tell me if there would be anything better than being transferred to a five star hotel after giving birth. I don't think so. Especially since, yeah, room service is included. And to top things off, she was in a beautiful room with lots of light, and a huge white bed. I photographed her with her parents, as they cuddled and kissed and marvelled at her tininess.
So much love X
