"Love what you have & you have everything you could possibly need."
Where do I begin with this beautiful family? These were photographed back in October and when I scrolled through their gallery again this afternoon, I was hit in the face with the joy & love that surrounds them. Growing up as one of five children, I have such fond memories of the complete chaos that came with being in a large family. In the younger years, there was always laughter, giggling, games and someone to play with. And then there were tantrums and tears and fighting but yin and yang, right? So while I'm sure it was overwhelming many times for my two parents, I am thankful I had so many siblings. Because despite the days where we couldn't get along, I was never alone. My family was and continues to be, a gift.
The reason I am writing this out here is because I see all of those good things that I adored about my childhood in this family. I see bonds that are growing, love that is evolving and memories that will remain with each of those boys as they become adults. I am yet to have my own children, but I can only imagine the engulfing feeling of parenthood; wondering, am I doing any of this right? Photography is here to remind you that you are. Your children are so very loved, happy and that is what matters most.
Finally, thank you to Lydia, who is also a brilliant photographer here in Adelaide, for asking me to capture her family. I was honoured (and slightly nervous) when she asked me to document her family. How glad I am though, because this photoshoot was the beginning of our friendship.
"She was the beautiful dream I had been searching for. The one to wake me up." - Atticus
What a special evening this was. Rachel and her daughter Eloise have the sweetest relationship, one that is so beautiful & visibly strong. But then there's her grandparents, Elaine & Jeff, who also came along for the evening. Their love for her spills right out in front of you, and Eloise replicates it with such a force. Witnessing this sort of thing is what keeps me coming back again and again.
