"...the symbol that whispers: all of my yesterday's & all of my tomorrow's"
Photographing these two was like photographing two of my oldest friends. For whatever reason, it felt like I had known these two for years. They let me in, and allowed me to photograph their love. My job really was easy because their connection is so palpable.
So Georgia & Chris, thank you again for such a beautiful night. You two are special.
A dozen times on this short, two day trip up to the Sunshine Coast, I found myself stopping, and and taking a moment in time to ask myself where I was, how far I had come to get there, and just how incredible our world is today. I first 'met' Deanna on Instagram a year or so ago. We had been following each other's Instagram feeds for a long time, so when she mentioned she was having a vow renewal, I wished I could come up to shoot it. Again I thought to myself, why not? And then there I was. How ridiculous is that? I carried my gear through the airport on a Tuesday morning, still buzzing with excitement over how a comment on social media could link you into someones life like that. A strange and surreal, but beautiful concept. I thought about it as I watched her appear, walking down the aisle, pretty music playing: then again, later that night, sitting in the warm air while offloading their gallery to my laptop: how lucky am I to be where I am, doing something I love.
Both mornings, we all woke so early, partly due to Queensland's insane beliefs on not having daylight savings, and partly due to the ridiculously cute but very early rising little boys. I wouldn't change anything though. I cannot explain to you the peace of being welcomed so warmly into a family, making cups of tea, hard boiling eggs and watching the sun rise up into the sky, and the clouds move in over the lake.
I know it's cliche, but for goodness sakes, I felt so lucky. I felt so lucky I could cry. There are not many jobs in this world where you slip into people's lives like this. Where you stand by them, 10 years of marriage behind them, two little boys, and one girl on the way, and you watch them affirm their love.
Deanna, Matt, Charlie & Louie, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for not only an incredible two days but for inviting me in like family. Sitting around with all of you felt like home. Until next time.
"How wonderful life is, now that you are in this World."
Indiana, such a curly gem. I had a wonderful morning with these three, chatting the day away as it rained and howled outside. My very favourite thing about this shoot was Indie's little foot edging up towards her face because she was just that curly still. Reminders of the womb life she lived for nine months. This is why newborns hold that special place in my heart.
Can I just say - twins are the best. In fact, now that I've photographed these little dudes, someone send me triplets! This session was so much fun, and there is no sarcasm there. These boys were an absolute dream. And their gorgeous older brother Jordan was so caring & sweet and quite frankly, it makes sense because his parents are pretty awesome too.
What I loved most about the twins was the energy they fed each other. Together they were so calm, and it was something so special to witness. Love, love, love.
